Core Responsibilities

Barnes is seeking a Director of Product– Verticals in Molds & Molding to join our Molding Solutions Business Unit. This role will report to the VP, Product & Technology and be responsible for the product portfolio and strategy of Management our Molding Line. The ideal candidate will develop a winning product strategy aimed at growing share in the plastic injection molding segment. He/she should have significant experience in plastic injection molding, ideally in the medical/pharma/biotech sector.   • Accountable for the global Molding product line strategy and member of the Product Leadership Team responsible for creating and implementing an integrated global strategy across the hot runner, molds, and controls product lines
  • Works closely to understand and assess customer unmet needs. As a result of it, he/she delivers Market Requirement Documents and Product Requirement Documents with prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Partners with our Molding Solutions R&D Teams to develop integrated product and technology roadmaps for our next generation hot runner products
  • Authors segment and competitive analyses including detailed segmentation of applications, products, and customers across regions
  • Collaborates with cross-functional team to implement and deliver product features on time while adapting to unforeseen events
  • Establishes sound business cases ensuring continued investment is made in the right projects while also displaying the leadership and courage to recommend when projects should be stopped, recycled, or shelved
  • Heavy engagement with VP, R&D and the R&D Team to ensure product design, quality, reliability and profitability goals are met at all points in the Phase Gate process
  • Works closely with Sales Team and Strategic Marketing to define and execute the market activation plan for all new product and/or service launches as well as providing consultative product support and commercial tools to help sales increase market penetration
  • Leads evaluation of current product portfolio and makes recommendations on standardization and associated plan for sunsetting such product offerings to the market

Qualifications

  • A proven track record of performance and career advancement in injection molding industry. Technical and/or commercial
  • Solid knowledge in product management
  • Experience successfully bringing new products and systems to market - driving all aspects including commercial and technical aspects of the product
  • Experience owning/managing a Product ROI and business case development
  • Effectively lead complex initiatives and collaborate across lines and teams. Ability to work/communicate effectively in technical/commercial environment
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to develop strategies, customer segmentation and market insights to support both distribution-based and direct selling models to drive differentiated value and success through each as a part of a product portfolio
  • Act as a change agent with an open and flexible approach, with strong skills to build credibility and partnerships. Driven by customer centricity
  • Strong analytical skills using a wide range of data sources. Ability to dive into metrics and draw key insights
  • Global perspective and ability to operate on a global stage
  • In addition to independent qualities, the ability to work well as part of a regional and virtual teams across multiple geographies/vertical markets
  • Creates/communicates a clear, inspiring vision with the capability to translate it into actions/projects

Education Requirements:
  • University degree in Plastics Engineering, Sales, Strategy or Marketing, or related discipline is highly desirable
  • Formal product management education or certification a plus
